Everywhere we look these days, there's a breakdown of civility, grace, compassion, and forgiveness, and an increase in anger, hostility, vengeance, and violence. So, what does it mean and look like to be disciples of the Prince of Peace in this cultural moment and context? Is Jesus’ peace and peacemaking central or peripheral to the gospel and the mission of the church?
During the season of Lent*, we will be exploring Jesus’ unexpected, glorious and at times “crazy” way of peace and the difference it can make in the various situations and settings of life. The sermons will focus on Jesus’ Way of Peace and during the week the Thursday night Bible Study at church will explore peacemaking in various life settings (global conflicts, communities, church, family, etc.) using recordings from our national denominational study conference on peacemaking (https://www.mennonitebrethren.ca/equip/)
*The season of Lent, the 40 day period before Easter, provides us with an opportunity to focus on the life, work and ministry of Jesus and open ourselves anew to his example and transforming work in our lives.
