We continue to make good progress with some skilled carpenters assisting us. We also had 2 young people join us on a scholarship program. The scholarship program is open to students who apply while attending a Mennonite school (e.g., Columbia Bible College, Conrad Grebel), can work for four weeks, and have one semester of schooling paid for.
This week, the focus was on the roof, crawl space completion, and the attachment of the exterior Tyvek layer. As anticipated, the gusty winds of Lytton made installing the Tyvek a real contest, with the wind winning one round in a spectacular way. We can tell the story later.
One fun surprise was the arrival of Gary the barber from Victoria. Gary is a close friend of the client, and when he found out we were volunteers, he offered free haircuts to anyone who wanted one. In one case, the trim involved dramatically getting rid of a 2-winter mop of hair.
A memorable week it was with very tasty suppers to reward the hard work. We continue to value your prayers for safety.
