We are living in a culture that is increasingly alien and even hostile to religious faith and convictions. Believers throughout the ages have had to face similar challenges so it is not surprising that the Bible addresses issues like this. Indeed, the book of Daniel tackles the problem head on both in the stories of Daniel and his friends and in the visions he received. Together they show and tell us how to sustain our faith and embrace God’s mission in an alien culture. Indeed, with God’s help, it is even possible for our faith to thrive in Babylon.
